Hazmat crews and fire department personnel are at the Lehigh County Courthouse after a suspicious liquid was found in a second-floor bathroom.
A janitor found the liquid Tuesday morning in theAllentown building, and emergency crews were called, fire Capt. John Christopher said.
Christopher said crews are testing the liquid and closed the bathroom out of an abundance of caution.
No one was injured or reported any ill effects, Christopher said.
A sheriff’s deputy is stationed outside the bathroom and is not letting visitors in, but the other courtrooms and offices on the second floor are open and conducting business.
An item deemed suspicious forced a road closure Wednesday afternoon in Center City Allentown.
Court Street, which is directly behind the courthouse, is closed between North Penn and North Fifth streets. A group of emergency vehicles, including a hazmat truck, are parked there.
